Do you ever you feel lost: cast adrift on the sea of life, rudderless and tossed about by stormy waters, thunder, and howling winds?
If you do, then ask yourself the following question:
If I was shipwrecked off an uninhabited island far, far, far from my home:
what are seven things I must have with me that are essential to my happiness and well-being?
The purpose of this question is to prompt you to identify:
- What, or who is important to you
- Which aspects of your life you would leave behind, if you needed to
- What happiness means to you
- Which aspects of your life you would keep, no matter what.
Being true to one’s self can be a constant battle; especially, in today’s world of information overload, other people’s expectations, and easy distractions.
But knowing who you are and what (or who) is important to you is like an anchor securing your attention to focus your efforts only on what is truly important to you.
